Boat Show Snippets

February 26, 2016

Last Sunday marked the end of the winter boat show and luckily I was able to attend on the final day. Cruising the event floor, I talked with many vendors and, interestingly, each conversation contained useful informational snippets.

The custom upholstery manufacturer brought up the importance of scheduling interior and cushion work at least six months ahead. The propeller repair shop cited new, unusual, propeller designs with blades that incorporated foil-like configurations. The fisheries representative shared the need to license every salt water fisherman on the boat, guest or regular. And, the paint representative mentioned how the Gulf of Maine had been 12 degrees higher than normal the previous summer resulting in a flood of barnacles.

Of course, there were many other conversations and learnings, and they all added up to a fun, and informative experience, all without boarding a single boat.
