Well, the boating season has officially begun, with Memorial Day weekend slowly fading in our wakes. It was a good weekend, for the most part, hot and sunny. With virtually ideal weather conditions, it’s easy to get lulled into a false sense of security, and overlook small, but important, details as I did. “Planning Your Cruise”

The United States Power Squadrons and BoatUS Foundation recently partnered to develop a new online course to help boaters plan their summer trips. “Planning Your Cruise” was designed to address the educational needs of both new and experienced captains with limited amounts of time for cruising. It covers a broad range of subjects from crew selection to security. The $30 course is available through www.BoatUS.org/courses.
