31st Annual Gloucester Schooner Festival, Sept. 4-6

The Annual festival is sailing onto the horizon. The well-known event, held off Gloucester, MA, will feature a wide variety of schooners hailing from a number of eastern ports, There is a lot to this festival. On Friday evening, festivities will include a block party and gala event. Events on Saturday will kick off with the Maritime Gloucester Heritage Day celebration and conclude with a fireworks display over the harbor. Sunday, the Parade of Sail will start at 10:30 am, followed by the main event, the Mayor’s Race, at 1 pm. This is a pretty rare opportunity to get up close and personal with a number of historically significant vessels. If you’re fascinated by old schooners that were once the foundation of the U.S. fishing industry, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
