Do Good and Do Well

Recently I attended the annual Maine Boatbuilders boat show. There was a wide variety of booths and among them, a number of old friends to catch up with. While the whole show was great, I particularly enjoyed visiting the Block Island Maritime Funding booth. This non-profit, with offices in ME and RI, focuses on making the boat donation and purchase process very simple and easy. They had one of their portfolio boats on display, a 1972 28′ L. Francis Herreshoff canoe yawl design. It was a really pretty sailboat, and as with most boats in the BIMF group, very reasonably priced. If you’re looking to donate your boat to a good cause, or purchase a boat at a bargain price, look around for an organization like the BIMF, they’re tough to beat.
