Early Post-Season Check

December 16, 2022

Christmas is on the horizon, but we’re not quite into winter yet. It’s damp and cold, but there’s no snow to cause alarm for most boat owners. And, that’s where the danger lies, as it’s awful easy to fall asleep at the switch when danger is not clearly at hand.

Now, it’s obvious that your exposure to expensive spring-time repairs is higher when there is a couple feet of snow, than when it is dry, but early oversights can compound issues. Say, for example, if the boat drains fill with autumn leaves, covering them up, it could lead to water back-ups and significant problems. Or, perhaps you’ve left throttle and steering linkages un-lubricated which can make easy movement in the spring, difficult. Or, maybe you left partially charge ed batteries connected, leading to the entire bank being pulled down over the cold months. You get the idea.

So, for the sake of your boat, take a quick swing by before the holidays to ensure everything is in order. The money you save through fewer repairs will be yours to keep.
