That’s the header on the websites of providers of most major area boat shows such as the New England Boat Show, Hartford Boat Show, and the Maine Boat Show. Similar to most major in-person events, these important, almost ritualistic, events have run up on the CV-19 virus iceberg. It’s too bad, since boat shows represent a welcome, if temporary, oasis for boaters driven from the water by high seas and freezing temperatures. Not only will folks miss out on viewing new models up close, but they will also forfeit the opportunity to talk with other boaters, swapping stories and learning new facts and tidbits. Just as sailors have to deal with windless conditions occasionally, all of us will have to deal with the temporary hole in our boating calendars. Thank god, things are looking brighter both health-wise and season-wise. It’s a stretch to say the season is just around the corner, but it is certain that we’re pointed in the right direction, and with a little patience we’ll get there as we have every other year.
