Good Timing for New Knowledge

Currently, here in the Northeast, we’re between seasons –Winter is slowly receding while Spring is advancing. It’s a slow process to be sure, encompassing March, April, and May. During the first two months it’s difficult to work outside due to cold, wet conditions. Fortunately, there is something you can do indoors, namely, get knowledgeable. There are many organizations that offer low-cost or free education including: USCG, US Power Squadron, USCG Auxiliary, and your local harbormaster. Training seminars and programs cover a variety of topics from piloting and navigation to basic safe boat operation. Imagine how much more relaxed you would be handling a potential boating disaster, fortified by some recent training on the topic. So, leave the boat alone a bit longer and get your head together. The tradeoff will pay pay large dividends in the season ahead.
